Aiko’s Birthday Party

On Sunday we went to Aiko’s birthday party at the park — just a few snapshots to share with her family :)

Pre-birthday birthday swimparty :)

This weekend we had a family party for Ainsley’s 5th birthday. Her actual birthday is tomorrow, and we’re doing another little shindig then. Saturday was just a laid-back day at Grammy’s house, complete with a hideous cake that I let cool in the pan too long before layering and icing. It was pretty darn ugly, but still delicious ;)

The cat tried to “assist” me in making the cake, which could perhaps explain its demise. I was a little weirded out by the cat hair in the cake batter possibilities…

Then we got stuck behind a train for a while…

One of Ainsley’s favorites, shrimp cocktail!

Avery and Mark wasting time before we went out to swim:

Waiting for the pool to warm up a little in the backyard — this was her idea!

So glad Guido could join us with his Blue Blockers…

And finally we’re in the pool — commence with the jumping, splashing, water gunning, canonballing, etc…

Ainsley got a Pillow Pet and it was definitely a hit :) This makes her third one?

Early Morning Bath

This makes me go a little cross-eyed looking at it, but I love it when I capture a moment like this :)

First Homework Assignment

Today, we all sat down for homework time after school, and as Ainsley started her first homework packet, Avery said, “Mom, you should take pictures of this!” I guess they’re used to me taking pictures of everything, even the most mundane things. So, here’s the thrilling documentation of Ainsley doing her first homework assignment(s). She has a packet that was assigned today and is due Friday. Sadly, she completed the entire thing in about 20 minutes, and that included several minutes of diligent, unnecessary coloring.

ETA: after taking these pictures, I promptly removed the nail polish from both of their hands… it was looking pretty hideous.

So Awesome

This guy rocks time-lapse photography using Nikon gear :) Read more here.

My Packing Helper

We are moving to a newer, bigger house in two weeks, so I decided to start packing up the stuff I know I won’t use between now and then. This little guy thought he was helping me this morning by scattering the newspaper all around the living room :)

The girls are super excited to set up their new rooms, and I am SUPER excited to have an office again. We got to pick carpet and paint this past week and hopefully the kitchen is being retiled as I type this! I’m very much looking forward to getting rid of things I don’t need and very much dreading going through my garage and reorganizing that whole mess…

Turnaround trip to the Salton Sea

Another photobook set to print :) This was from April on a quick one night camping trip. Such a great time!!! Can’t wait to do it again when it’s not 150 degrees there…

RV Weekend

Playing catchup – this is from a trip to the desert with some friends back in February. I’m making a photobook of this one and a few other trips we’ve taken this year. I wanted to have it all done before school started last week, but I didn’t quite make it. Who makes goals for summer vacation anyway???

First Day of School!

Or more importantly, the first day of Kindergarten for Ainsley :) Avery started first thing in the morning, but Ainsley didn’t go until mid-morning. We actually had to go back after school to take a few more because I wanted to use the butterfly wall as I’ve done in the past to show how much Avery has grown, but first thing in the morning, it’s halfway in the sunshine :)

Batter Up!

My very dear friend Danielle and her husband Paul own a little cupcake bakery in San Diego, CA. I’m so proud of her and her ability to not only get this business going but to make it the best cupcake bakery in San Diego :) She recently sent me home with some delicious cupcakes and, although my hips didn’t love me, I tasted and/or ate every single one! If you’re nearby and need delicious cupcakes for any reason, pop in to Batter Up! and place an order!
