First soccer game of the season…

Both of the girls had a game today, but I am spent and have only edited Avery’s, which was first today. I thought this year she might be a little more assertive, but I’m bummed to say, I was wrong :( I think she’s more the reading, drawing, intellectual type. Not so much the girl who wants to get into the mix and kick the ball!

A try at a kick! And a miss… HAHA :) My poor girl!

Five going on fifteen…

I only say that because she acts like a teenager sometimes! She’s so articulate and funny :) We wandered around outside this morning after Avery went to school and before it was 115 degrees outside. Ugh.

Avery’s Owl Project

So, Avery was ready with our recent move to ditch her more childlike room decor for some swankier stuff. So far, we have owls. I don’t know if they’re swanky, but it’s a step in the right direction. We made them from scratch with no template out of scrapbook paper. Not too shabby… She also wants a cherry blossom wall decal. I am trying to find one that has red flowers, but I realize cherry blossoms are pink. I’m on the hunt ;)

Kat Kong

The girls sacrificed their “Mittens” stuffed cat (from the movie Bolt) to Domino. He treats this poor thing like it’s his prey over and over again. What’s more, if you put it on the top of his cat scratching post, he will literally come out of a dead sleep to knock it off the top. It’s pretty funny watching him with this thing. Poor Mittens :)

I love this cat :)

Starting them early!

Avery requested this shirt from Old Navy because it has a camera on it. Now that’s what I call indoctrination :)

Housewarming Party!

Move = last weekend, thrown-together housewarming party = this weekend :)

Sangria!

All of the kids had blueberry faces — the blueberries were so juicy that they all had purple-stained lips.

My mom has these at her house — for people’s drinks. We got some, too, as a housewarming gift :)

Since we don’t yet have a couch for our front room, it turned into a dance party/confetti throwing area. The kids had lots of fun with the big open space…

Love this shirt! (my friend’s husband)

We got lots of wine and some beautiful flowers to celebrate the new place :)

PlayDoh Cupcakery

Ainsley got a cupcake playdoh factory for her birthday. Both of the girls read the age recommendation (which said 3+) and complained that they were MUCH older than 3, and they were TOO old to play with the new set. Those complaints didn’t last long, and both they and I had a little fun making all kinds of dorky cakes, pies, ice cream cones, etc with the tools that came in the box. It was pretty therapeutic ;)

Six year old creativity :)

Sometimes I ask Avery to explain her drawings, other times I just study them and wonder what in the world she was thinking about while drawing them :)

Color Me Mine Party

Ainsley’s “official” party was with a small group of friends at Color Me Mine, a ceramic painting boutique nearby. She’d been asking to have her party there for many months and was really looking forward to it. It was such an easy party to host… I think maybe I’ll convince Avery that she wants to do that, too!

Guess who got a karaoke machine for her 5th birthday?
