Plans for the craft for Avery’s costume party :) I think I’m going to have kids paint these. We’ll see. The man at Trader Joe’s asked me why I was buying so many so I said (jokingly of course) that I was making 20 miniature pumpkin pies :)

Avery’s Birthday :)

Avery turned 7 on Sunday – hard to believe! Our friends and families came over to celebrate with a little BBQ. In two weeks we’re having a costume party with her ‘school friends.’ I’ve never done a “drop off” party at my house. I’m a little scared…

After eating and hanging out for a while, we headed over to the park. Avery played baseball with the boys and Ainsley and I rolled in the grass and watched :) Then we headed back to the house to open presents and sing Happy Birthday to Ainsley and Rocco (and Jeff), who also had birthdays this week. Fortunately Avery is old enough to share her birthday. Ainsley wouldn’t have been so understanding! Avery got several books, some boots, and the Cirque de Soliel production of “Love” (the Beatles) from my dad. You’d better believe I’m swiping that one ;)

She asked if she could put the “Party Girl” tag on her backpack. I told her I didn’t think that was a good idea and threw it away when I was cleaning up that night. No way that was going to happen…!

The boy in the bubble…

My poor cat ‘plays’ with two different cats through the back sliding glass door. These cats hang out in my backyard for some part of every day. Sometimes they’re there for a few minutes at a time, sometimes this one will lay just oustide of the slider for hours and hours. I don’t get what is so great about hanging out back there, but my cat doesn’t seem to mind. I even contacted the people that lived here before us to make sure these weren’t their cats, that’s how often they’re here. This past weekend I finally read this one’s collar – he belongs to the family on the street behind me and about 8 doors down. My yard must really be comfortable and interesting because he travels quite a ways to come visit….

What a nuclear family Playmobil presents, huh? They camp, they fish, they drink wine? This is Avery’s new set from her birthday. The girls have big platforms that slide under their beds and on top of each there are several Playmobil sets that kind of make up a little civilization. It’s fun to watch them and listen to them use their imaginations.

And my two funnies of the day today —
#1 — as I was getting ready for work (a rarity that I would work on a Monday, but I did…) Avery bursts into my room and says, “Hey Mom, who’s the brains of this outfit?” like she was some sort of wild west character looking for a shoot out or something. It was hilarous :) Or, to me, anyway…

and #2 — as we’re driving home after work and school, Ainsley tells me that out on the field at school, she and some friends had made a treehouse for the worms made of leaves and branches and rocks. They put the worms into it, and then watched them wiggle around. A few seconds later, she said, “And I wanted to teach them a secret handshake, but since they don’t have hands, they’d probably just get all tangled up when they practiced it.” She’s so silly and cute :)

Today was Avery’s birthday, but I have a bunch of photos I want to go through to put a set of them together for her to see. So here’s Ainsley at the park after our party. We have a park that is about a 30 second walk from our house and haven’t spent much time there since we’ve been so busy lately! Today we walked over and hit whiffle balls, kicked the soccer ball around, and sat in the grass and ‘hung out’ for quite a while. It was so nice and relaxing… Here’s Ainsley helping to keep the HOA yard service in business :)

My girls are interested in my photo of the day so I told them I would be better about putting them on my blog as I don’t necessarily want them perusing Flickr without me sitting right next to them :) Some days I put more thought into it than others, but my girls don’t seem to care.

{286/365} – made a cake for Avery’s birthday :)

{285/365} Had friends over and the kids “decorated” the backyard with marbles. It was a mess!

{284/365} – I’m a serial coffee mug forgetter. Sometimes by Friday I have three waiting for me to take home sitting on my desk at work. Ick!

{283/365} – No time, no ideas for this day!

{30/30}

The theme for day 30 is “self portrait.” I was having a bad focusing day, and gave up easily. I am out of practice with these, and I’m okay with that…!!!

{29/30}

Day 29’s theme is “black and white.”

Celebration!

My gorgeous friend is expecting a baby girl soon, so Sunday was her baby shower. It was held at the McCharles house in Tustin, CA. What a gorgeous place to have an event! The owner and operator is so warm and welcoming and the food was delicious! This was day 28 in my 30-day project, which was “flower,” so I think I covered my theme for the day ;)

Day 27 is “from a distance.” Ainsley’s soccer game was a good opportunity. I can shoot from under my umbrella with my 300mm :)
