My kids have a constant collection of fairy paraphernalia going on the table in the backyard. Today it was wood planks for tiny boats (loose sticks gathered from beneath the trees) and fairy hats (acorn caps). I’m very thankful that they have good imaginations!

So, I had this grand plan. The moon was supposed to rise at 5:06pm and the sun was supposed to set at 5:14pm. I was going to capture the moon with some lingering sunlight along the ridge of mountains and it would all be like freaking magic.
I think, however, the moonrise time that I Googled and found on several sites for MY CITY didn’t account for the fact that we’ve got some substantial mountains on our eastern horizon line. The moon did not come over the mountain ridge until more like 5:40. It was fully dark by then. POOP.

I have attempted this many many times over the years. Until now, my camera battery has always died mid-experiment, but this time I had an AC adapter plugged into a power strip, which went to an extension cord that was plugged straight into our generator. It was a lot of setup, but I like the results! These is 375 or so 30-second long exposures all stacked in succession. The lights at the bottom of the frame are off-road vehicles :)
