I’m super swamped with school starting tomorrow morning… I haven’t edited my photo for today and I’m too tired to even think about it! The first photo is for a friend who is expecting a girl any day now, and the sunflower was taken right outside of Avery’s new classroom yesterday afternoon. My kids are going to be awake at 5am in anticipation of a new year!

Last night we were treated to the team suite at our local minor league baseball field. Our friends are the former managaer and assistant manager of the team, and the two of them and their families were both in town after having moved away from us. It was fun to catch up and watch the game together :)

My camera was left sitting on the tripod from earlier today when I was taking pictures of the girls rolling around on my bed. Then tonight, the cat was laying on the bed right in the perfect spot for me to catch him in the mirror on my nightstand, but as I went to photograph him, he got up and took off. So I figured I’d jump into the photo instead :)

We spent the day in my classroom today, setting things up and trying to get ready for the new school year. Fortunately I have a former student who is now a sophomore in HS that volunteered to come and meet me there and help keep the girls busy. SO THANKFUL! I promised to let them play with the hose when we got home (and it’s a BIG BIG deal to my kids to actually get to control the hose…) and I made good on my promise. We put the nozzle on “mist” and they had a whole heck of a lot of fun. I went inside to start dinner and they were just screaming and squealing and making a ton of noise. My neighbors love me :)

My summer pretty much ended today. I’ll be working in my classroom for the next few days, because if I waited until I officially must report to work (next Monday), I would NEVER be ready for the first day of school. I’ve learned over the years that summer ends much sooner than I want it to because I have SO much to do, and we don’t get any ‘official’ time to do it. So, today we spent all day hanging with friends down in the San Diego area – we ate cupcakes, played hide-n-seek, jumped on the trampoline, the girls swung on a tire swing and climbed up into our friends’ tree house – you name it! It was like a last official lazy-but-fun-filled day of summer.

Last night, we were watching the Olympics, and this pink cast seem to be coming in through a window in the second story of our house. I opened the front door, and the sky was just amazing. So, we all walked to the end of our street and stood there for a minute, just watching it all and looking at how pretty it was. Avery said, “Mom, you HAVE to go get your camera.” So I did :)

Ainsley lost her first tooth :) I can’t get over how different she looks. She starts first grade in a week!

Mari + Octavio are Married – getting ready for the ceremony

This was one of the funnest weddings I’ve ever been to! Congrats to my friend Mari and her new husband Octavio :) More photos to come!
