We have had the wackiest weather lately. Really hot, really humid, thunderstorms, pouring rain, lightning? It’s not typical for SoCal. I have lived here all of my life! I don’t remember ever associating rain with heat when I was younger. I know it happens, but I don’t remember it happening here. Yesterday and today it POURED rain. Like hard, huge raindrops!

I don’t know where my penchant for nickname metamorphosis will take us, but for today she’s mostly just Molly. “Molly Magoo” for the most part since about 3pm. And maybe a few times even Molly McGee.

Auntie Britt’s Wedding :)

I took a bunch of pictures during our trip to Catalina and at Brittney and Shane’s wedding. The girls thought the boat ride over was pretty darn fantastic :)

We got ready at my mom and pop’s hotel (our hotel wouldn’t let us check in early, even though ‘early’ was 2pm), then took a cab to the Catalina Country Club (which is just gorgeous) so the girls could be a part of the pre-wedding photos as Brittney and Shane’s flower girls. They were thrilled. Ainsley took her job SO seriously – she was standing up straight, pursed lips, and VERY serious. It was awesome. The ceremony was gorgeous and I cried like a moron :) After a few photos, we settled in, ate dinner, then danced our hearts out until the girls were exhausted. It was so much fun!

The SWEETEST little cherubs, no?

They’re ready to be announced with the rest of the wedding party!

Mr. and Mrs. :)

Pops, the best man, and the maid of honor do their toasts…

The first dance.

Father/Daughter:

The cake!

Britt didn’t want Ainsley’s birthday to be forgotten, so after the cake cutting, she put a number 6 candle into Ainsley’s slice, and we sang “Happy Birthday” – she was pretty thrilled :)

For the rest of the night, we danced until our feet hurt. I’m sure the hired photographer has some choice shots of us four all dancing like a bunch of weirdos.

In the morning, we woke up, went back downtown, had some breakfast, and then stopped at Lloyd’s of Avalon for candy.

Then we window-shopped and later stopped in at a little pizza parlor for lunch.

Afterward, it was back to the boat to go back to the port in Long Beach :) We had a really good time!

These are about the only photos I took today :) We had been thinking about adopting a dog for months, but it always seemed like we were going to be gone for little trips here and there and didn’t want to bring a new dog into the family when we had so many out of town things going on. We got home from Catalina after being gone this weekend and realized our trips are all done for a while, so we went for it! Jared and I had been looking on Petfinder on and off for months, so we had some idea of what sort of dogs were available.

This girl is a German Shorthaired Pointer mix — she has a bit of bully in her face, but who knows. She is so sweet, gentle, has NO interest in chasing the cat… I could go on and on. We’re so lucky to have found her!

She’d been at the Palm Springs Animal Shelter for 10 weeks, and is only about 6-8 months old. The poor thing had spent so many nights of her young life there. That shelter, however, is so very nice and the people were so helpful and great. It was heartbreaking that we couldn’t also take home the other dogs that we ‘met,’ but we thought she was right for us.

Of the three we looked at and played with, she had been there the longest. I feel so great about our experience. If you live anywhere nearby, they are doing $20 adoptions until Friday, August 31st :)

They had named her Cookie at the shelter, but we’re thinking we want to rename her because I’ve already had two dogs in my life named Cookie. I think she’s a Molly, but we’ll see :)

I’ve been to Catalina Island a few times in my life. Every time, I’ve visited Lloyd’s of Avalon to watch them spin the salt water taffy. This time, the taffy machine wasn’t going, but we went inside anyway and got some treats :) It was fun to make a tradition out of it!

My step-sister and new brother in law got married this weekend on Catalina Island. It was such a beautiful day!

My baby is six :) She told me in the morning that her clothes BARELY fit her because she must have gotten bigger in the middle of the night, when her body KNEW she was suddenly six instead of five.

Horrible lighting for this, but I hadn’t taken a photo yet as our day today was INSANELY busy. After all the little things I had to do, I came home to find a box of these on the porch and ripped into them because I was so excited! Can’t wait to start sending them out ASAP!
