Last night, the girls had their “Investiture Ceremony” for Girl Scouts. Each parent took turns putting the new vest on their Girl Scout. The girls were really excited to get their vests which already had some patches sewn on :)
Last weekend’s camping trip
Just some snapshots, really. I think we’re going again this weekend. What is wrong with us???

My cat’s TV set.
Jared built him a perch next to the living room window. Just outside of that window hangs a birdfeeder and sits a birdbath. The cat will lay there all day just watching, being slowly tortured that he’s an indoor cat, quietly succombing to the realization that the most he can hope to hunt during his sheltered little life is the occasional renegade fly that sneaks in through an open doorway.
I like to watch them too. They’re a lively bunch.

Our friends’ baby, Finley :) She’s so tiny and perfect.
And this is our cat’s brother. He’s even more of a trouble maker.
We helped them move some things from our city to theirs, so we got there late and I didn’t take many photos. I can’t wait to do some ‘official’ pictures SOON!
Jared took these — my handsome photographer-in-training :)

This is the tree right outside of my classroom door. I took this almost an hour before school started — just as kids were starting to roam the campus. I was relishing in the last moments of peace before Friday middle school chaos began :)

Avery is entering an art contest. She’s a pretty precise and creative arteeeest. I’m hoping she does well!

Something blue. Although, after spending a day admiring them with mostly fondness, I’m starting to think they’re too green. We’ll see if they grow on me :)

The cat and the new dog are getting along famously. And by “famously,” I mean there have been hardly any violent episodes that might have required the help of the emergency vet that I have on speed dial. Kidding of course — they’re actually kind of playful although the cat still rules the roost.

On Friday we had our yearly team spirit olympics at school. My students lost, but they still had lots of school spirit ;)
On Saturday, it was my birthday. We had a BBQ and some fun with family and friends. Nothing too crazy ;)
Yesterday morning we left for a quick camping trip. It was a nice reminder that we wish we had a camping trailer too. Packing up after having fun is never a very good time.

My kids were rifling through my cabinets in my classroom and found a Monopoly game. They set up the little houses in a row like this, and then we made a street in the middle. It made me think of the opening song of Weeds, and then I started singing it, and then my kids started singing it, and now it’s stuck in all of our brains.
Yay.
