Thirty Days of Thankfulness, Day Five: Thankful for the occasional day to be lazy.

My kids didn’t have school today. It was “Report Card Day” for them. We stayed home, loafed around, and enjoyed that it didn’t feel like a Monday…

Thirty Days of Thankfulness, Day Four: Thankful for quiet Sunday evenings, spent at home, relaxing and catching up with my family before the rat race of Monday morning comes once again…

Thirty Days of Thankfulness, Day Three: Thankful for friends who like to throw fun parties!!!

Thirty Days of Thankfulness, Day Two: Thankful for a comfy home :) This photo has some seriously blown highlights, and I’m taking it looking into a streaky mirror, but I’m also thankful not to care too much about those things. Lots of my fellow photographers always remind me (and the rest of us) to get into the photo more often with our kids, and I’m pretty terrible about appearing in my own family photos. So I just did it. And my hair looks pretty darn ghastly.

I’m starting another “Thirty Days of Thankfulness” today, November 1st. I’m thankful for many things, but my children are way, way up there on my list. Maybe even first, depending upon their behavior at any given moment :) I love them dearly. They make me laugh, they make me proud, they make me want to be better at everything. They make me crazy and sometimes they make me need a cocktail.

It was a long day of costuming, hair-curling (that didn’t stick) and party throwing, goop stirring, toilet paper mummy wrapping, etc etc etc. By noon (when my kids got out of school) I had done more mommy helpering than I care to think about ;)

Avery was a bumble bee and Ainsley was Merida from Brave (minus the wig for most of the day…)

Avery has been reading iBooks on her phone lately. I shut off her ability to interact with the outside world for the most part recently. Her older cousins were telling her to look stuff up on YouTube, and then she said she didn’t have YouTube, so they went in and reactivated it for her. Derrrr, I did that for a reason! I promptly shut it off again and reminded them that I shelter my children from the oustide world :)

Anyway, I caught her on her phone early yesterday morning, and was glad to see she was just reading a book, so I quickly grabbed my camera :)

Avery got a science experiment book and some supplies for her birthday, so Sunday morning we had a lot of fun doing experiments with items found in our kitchen. The girls were amazed at what you can do with just some ordinary ingredients people usually have on-hand :)

We went to a birthday party on Saturday where my kids proceeded to pick up our friends’ hula-hoop and just start hula-hooping away. I know they have them available at school to play with, but I never knew that my kids could do it for so long! It was pretty cool ;)

I’m adding a little video of them playing in the yard :) As always, I forget my mouth is the closest thing to my phone…
