December 1st. Here we go again.
Thirty Days of Thankfulness, Day 30
Yesterday as I drove home from camping in the desert, I realized I hadn’t taken many pictures during the day. I was on the 10 freeway, in traffic, and the sun was going down fast. As I watched the sunset from my car window, I saw this hot air balloon slowly rise out of the darkness and knew I had to try to get a photograph. It was perfect timing!
So, for Day 30: I’m thankful for hope and timing and the knowledge that everything happens the way it’s supposed to.

Halloween, 2013
I didn’t take photos the day of Halloween — to much going on… we had already dressed up several times prior for several reasons and I was just kind of over it!
Here was costume setup #1, which Avery never deviated from, minus the pillow in her butt. She was a “sedentary librarian” and Ainsley was a ballerina as her owl costume wasn’t finished!
Later in the week we fininshed up her owl wings for the whole presentation :)
She won a little trophy for most colorful costume!
And our pumpkins, of course :) I’m glad we waited to carve them because they literally began to disintigrate immediately!
Vacation to the Big Island – Hawaii, 2013
In October, my husband and I went for a short vacation to the Big Island. I had never been there before – compared to the islands I have been to, Hawaii is very very much the most volcanic! Such a cool landscape. We mostly stuck around the resort we stayed at (The Hilton Waikoloa Village — GORGEOUS!) but we did rent a car one day and drove all over the island. We had such a great time :)
One engine on our plane failed, so we boarded, then got off again, then waited for four hours for a new plane. In the meantime, we had a couple of cocktails and some lunch at LAX.
Eventually, we were in the air…
Our hotel was gorgeous :) Lots to photograph.
There was a “Museum Walk” which spanned the distance all the way around the hotel. Lots of beautiful artifacts, sculptures, and other creations. It was a nice way to start our day when we walked to breakfast each morning.
The sunsets in Hawaii are breathtaking!
Our drive around the island proved to be just as beautiful…

It was a lovely getaway – we relaxed most of the time, which was our primary goal ;)
